Sessions & fees

Follow-up in psychomotor therapy.

The rhythm of the sessions is most often one session a week or every two weeks, but this can vary, as can the length of the support.

How it goes

Meeting, then understanding where the body stands.

The first appointments allow the request to be clarified and for us to meet. If needed, a psychomotor assessment may be carried out; it is not a mandatory step before going on to sessions. It allows a first framework of understanding to emerge, a first snapshot of where the person stands in their body: fine motor skills, gross motor skills, relationship to time and space, bodily experience, relationship to the body, sensory experience.

This makes it possible to see what the difficulties are, but also the resources.

The sessions

Bodily mediations, and talking.

When follow-up is decided on, psychomotor therapy sessions are built around bodily mediations and exchanges. The mediations used may be:

  • relaxation
  • singing
  • dance
  • music
  • drawing
  • clay
  • therapeutic touch
  • self-massage
  • breathing exercises

The place

Sessions take place within a multidisciplinary practice.

Sessions most often take place at my practice, within a multidisciplinary practice that brings together a psychomotor therapist, two clinical psychologists and a general practitioner. I can exceptionally come to your home and/or to your everyday places, for specific situations.

Consultations take place from Monday to Thursday, by appointment. See the access map and public transport.

Help with funding

Do not face the paperwork on your own.

Several schemes can contribute to funding the sessions. Here are the essentials. For the details of your file, I can help you.

Private health insurance

More and more private health insurers reimburse psychomotor therapy (50% of the cost, or 10 sessions…), often through a wellbeing package.

If you are refused: all private health insurers have an appeals committee for fees above the covered rate. An application is then put together (letter requesting exceptional help, medical prescription for the assessment and/or the sessions, paid invoices, quote for the sessions) sent to the social services or to the social benefits committee. If the application is accepted, the insurer may grant a package.

The extra-statutory benefits of CPAM

This is help granted on an exceptional basis. You apply to the social services office of your local council (CCAS) or to a social worker at the social security office, with an application for “extra-statutory benefit assistance”. Income criteria apply, and the request is justified by an assessment. It is possible without the MDPH, but an MDPH application in progress can make the process easier.

The MDPH: PCH and the AEEH supplement

The MDPH also concerns people without a severe disability. Full or partial reimbursement is a right when a disability has been established and diagnosed (autism, dyspraxia, ADHD…) by a specialist doctor (child psychiatrist, paediatric neurologist…).

  • Adults benefiting from the MDPH: psychomotor therapy may fall under the PCH (full or partial coverage). The assessment is carried out first, then sent to the MDPH.
  • Children and teenagers benefiting from the MDPH: a supplement may be added to the AEEH (Allowance for the Education of a Disabled Child), whose amount depends on 6 categories. The cost of the sessions remains yours, but the AEEH offsets it.

These files take a long time; they are made easier by a social worker from the CCAS or from the departmental solidarity office.

Pension funds and works councils

Pension funds and works councils can contribute financial support. Ask your organisation.
